Variegated Jade Plant vs Squirrel. Bets?

I knew it. I knew it! Something or someone is telling me that I'm never ever allowed to have a variegated jade plant!

Variegated Jade Plant

This time around, it was a squirrel. A jade plant was knocked over and my prickly pear also has a bite mark. However, one squirrel took their time to bend over my poor variegated jade and make a light snack out of it.

I have to get back into the habit of putting squirrel feed on the stumps out back in early morning to prevent them from coming up to the house.

Interesting that squirrels would eat a jade plant. Are you sure it wasn't a rat? We have about 9 squirrels in our yard but have never touched our jades when we have them in the yard for summer. I guess they're too busy eating the birdseed we put out. Sorry to read that about your prized varigated jade but it should survive the pruning. Unsightly but it's a tough plant.

There's a big population of squirrels here. The whole backyard can be full of holes and they're real bad with newly made beds. They'll dig to see if any of their comrades hid anything.

I've seen squirrels come up to the table in early morning searching in the pots for any hidden goodies. I just don't get why they felt the need to try to eat something. They must've gotten impatient that morning.
